This is a glimpse into my anti-enthusiastic "Turkey Day" 2012... as well as a bit of black Friday family footage! Back to gobbly gobble day... My mother was too ill to prepare any part of the meal so mi familia was going to cancel dinner... I couldn't let that happen... so, Sous Chef Zane and I prepared everything (aside from Maggie's super delicious "hard apple'd" PIE...the best pie EvAr!!), it was great fun...and wow-tastically yummy! The following food items were in attendance: Waldorf salad with greek yogurt as the base, broccoli slaw with bacon, potato salad, Mashed potatoes and gravy, honeybuttered sweet potatoes, Baked Broccoli con Queso, Herbed rice and apple vegetable stuffing, stove-top stuffing, pre-cooked spiral sliced ham... most all was good (The stove top stuffing was family food fan-service so I didn't eat nun)! In all, it was a very un-chaotic neutral silence type "Danette is setting the tone" fun time... and then... I cuddled with my phone and slept pretty rubbish while simultaneously having pleasant dreams! : ) I hope everyone celebrated the inevitable genocide remembrance that is Thanksgiving in an equally or more pleasant way than the scenes depicted here...!
One translation of Marcel Proust's A la recherche du temps perdu used a line from Shakespeare's sonnet XXX as the title - Remembrance Of Things Past, even though a more literal translation of the French would be: In Search Of Lost Time. He used some poetic license! Background music composed, performed and recorded by duckpondwithoutducks. What causes a region--a place--to imprint itself upon the people who are born and live there? What is the connection between landscape and memory? What is forgotten and what is remembered? Prairie Public's newest documentary in the Germans From Russia series shows how a territory can endure in the minds of the descendants of those inhabitants after years, even after generations, have passed.
AMAR PREM is the story of three innocent souls-who by circumstances come near each other and are bound by the thread of eternal love. Pushpa - Sharmila Tagore a simple housewife from a village is thrown out of her house by her husband because she could not have a child. Dejected she comes to her own village and meets a croom nepal babu - who takes her to calcutta to give her a job. There she is cheated by him and is forced to take shelter in prostitute quarters. Anand - Rajesh Khanna A rich man of the city is neglected by his ultra modern wife and has no place to go. One day while passing through the same locality he hears a song and is attracted by the beautiful voice. He meets pushpa and both are tied to each other. Nandoo - a child who stays nearby - is always ill-treated by his step-mother. He comes in pushpa's life and finds a mother in her. But fate had something else to offer. They are all separated and how they are again united after ages - that is what you will see in Amar Prem.

Google Tech Talk (more info below) September 28, 2011 Presented by Prof. Ron Baecker, Department of Computer Science, University of Toronto. ABSTRACT The percentage of senior citizens worldwide continues to grow. In response to this demographics, our research aims to envision, prototype, design, build, evaluate, and sometimes commercialize powerful and flexible electronic aids to support graceful aging. Unlike technology for seniors that is designed for remote monitoring, problem detection, and intelligent assistance, our aim is to empower older adults and their families to help themselves. TAGlab conducts "research for the journey through life." We choose projects that respond to human needs as characterized by Abraham Maslow. Maslow speaks of the following levels of needs: physiological, safety, love/belonging, esteem, and self-actualization. Our work is primarily at the top three levels. We shall begin at top-level by reporting on projects that employ multimedia and other lifelogging technologies to help individuals with Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment be better able to remember and reminisce about experiences over a lifetime or about recent events and activities. Other projects seek to enhance seniors' autonomy and esteem. MyVoice, recently launched as a company, is a context-aware mobile app that aids individuals with aphasia and children with learning challenges to recall words and to speak. Tangra, a response to the wave of interest in brain ...
