After The Easybeats disbanded in 1969, Wright fronted numerous groups including Stevie Wright Band and Stevie Wright & the Allstars; his solo career included the 1974 single, "Evie (Parts 1, 2 & 3)", which peaked at #1 on the Kent Music Report Singles Chart. Here it is, Parts 1, 2 and 3 - complete and pristine - all 11 minutes and 11 seconds - his greatest achievement.
Evie is an Australian rock song released as a single in 1974 by Australian music legend and former frontman of The Easybeats, Stevie Wright. It was written by Harry Vanda and George Young. It is reportedly the only 11-minute song to chart at #1 anywhere in the world. It features 3 parts (Parts I, II and III) and some critics consider it as one of the most perfect rock n' roll songs ever, encapsulating the three basic themes of all love songs (I) Baby it'll be great once we're together (Let Your Hair Hang Down), (II) Baby, it's so great now that we're together (Oh Evie... I'm nothing without you), (III) Baby, it's so bad since you left me (I'm Losing You). However, the loss in this case is more tragic than the usual "boy loses girl" scenario - it describes the singer's emotions following Evie's death in childbirth. en.wikipedia.org
For part 3 www.youtube.com . After the demise of the Easybeats in 1969, Stevie Wright embarked on a successful solo career. In 1974 he released the epic "Evie", an 11-minute 3-part classic, which to this day remains the longest song ever to reach #1 on any chart in the world. The Easybeats split was primarily attributed to Dutch-born Harry Vanda's increased songwriting, which had replaced Wright's. Ironically, "Evie", which became Wright's signature song, was written by Vanda & Young. Recorded live at the 1979 Sydney Rocktober concert, this is parts 1 & 2 of the song. Since YouTube's time limit prevented the whole thing, part 3 has been uploaded separately. For part 3 see www.youtube.com

Stevie Wright may well be regarded as a pioneer of Australian Rock 'N' Roll ... In the 60's he was with the incredible band The Easybeats who enjoyed a long string of hits ... His solo success in the 70's was just as Incredible with more hits and his live shows were just AWESOME ... In the 80's he continued the tradition of quality Rock 'N'Roll and although older he never seemed to let the fans down as he still Rocked just like it was the 60's ... His LEGENDARY PERFORMANCE at The Bridgeway Hotel in Adelaide in 1987 captures 3 decades of hits ... Stevie's Music will Rock On Forever.
Released in 1974 by Australian singer Stevie Wright (formerly of the Easybeats), "Evie - Parts 1, 2 & 3" is a great song.
Long before MEATLOAF sang his Triple-Song Rock Anthem, PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ..... Many years ahead of VANGELIS and his Multi-Themed, Storytelling narrative, FRIENDS OF MR. CAIRO ..... Australian Rocker STEVIE WRIGHT sped through our heads with his 1975 ..... 11 Minute,Triple-Songed, torch, love rock ballad EVIE. He loved this girl, He would have died for this girl ...... and remembering my time back in the '70's, at the time, it felt like he was singing directly to me and my other contemporaries. Relive this song again ..... Are your memories as linked to feelings as mine may have been? . . Stevie Wright may well be regarded as the forgotten man of Australian rock & roll thanks to a career that was curtailed and shortened by a long-running battle with drugs. Wright joined the Easybeats in 1964 and had several Australian hits, including the worldwide smash "Friday on My Mind," before the band broke up in 1969. He then formed the band Rachette and produced Bootleg's debut single, "Whole World Should Slow Down." He performed with Rachette at the Odyssey Music Festival in 1971 before briefly joining Likefun in Perth. He returned to Sydney to perform in the Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar and stayed with the production from 1971-1973. During 1972 he also performed with Black Tank and appeared on the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack, released in 1973. He then began work on his debut album Hard Road with Easybeats' songwriters Harry Vanda and George ...

'Evie Part II' from his studio 1985 release 'Stevie Wright Sings The Easybeats'. Very different to the famous version from the 'Hard Road' album, it features both saxophone & guitar solos! Also on the cd were new versions of Easybeats hits 'I'll Make You Happy', 'Sorry', 'She's So Fine' & more. This is Stevie's last full studio album.
