Description: Beloved Israel "Iz" Ka'ano'i Kamakawiwo'Ole sings his renowned medley of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "What a Wonderful World." Israel was among the most celebrated of Hawaiian performers with a kind and gentle spirit that is evident in his touching voice. He tragically died in 1997 of an heart attack at an early age (38) and has been sorely missed by his many adoring fans. According to Wikipedia: "The Hawaii State Flag flew at half-staff on July 10, 1997, the day of Kamakawiwoʻole's funeral. His koa wood coffin lay in state at the Capitol building in Honolulu. He was the third person in Hawaiian history to be awarded this honor, and the only one who was not a government official. Approximately ten thousand people attended the funeral."The 64 photos of Rainbows were selected from Google and Bing image searches for "rainbow" to help visualize Israel's soaring words and melodious Spirit that still touches and inspires our deep places many years after he has gone. Thank you Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole.

Tribute to the Extraordinary Eva Cassidy ~ I discovered the profound beauty and talent of Eva Cassidy just recently while recovering from surgery. Laptop surfing, I was searching for something to take my mind off the emotional anguish and physical pain of my recent wounds. Somehow I stumbled across the videos of Eva Cassidy's Live performance at Blues Alley. From her first notes, I was stunned and captivated. And comforted. Her musical selection, interpretation, range, enunciation, sustaining notes, phrasing, rich timbre and vocal acrobatics are exquisitely overwhelming. Her power and softness are a constant marvel. Her delivery is perfection. The sheer beauty of her music reaches very deep inside me and yet simultaneously transports me far beyond myself. It is rather foolish to do what I've just done (and have never before felt compelled to do); put together a simple, inadequate slide show. Especially when we are blessed with the great and haunting footage of Eva's live performance at Blues Alley. But it is my humble, yet passionate thank you to Eva Cassidy for sharing her unforgettable music, art and spirit. Her voice is a conduit to something bigger, more profound and extraordinary than words can express. My heartfelt appreciation goes to Barbara and Hugh Cassidy for bringing Eva into our world and to Chris Biondo for believing in Eva and making it possible for us to still hear her. For more information about Eva Cassidy's incredible music, art, life and legacy of ...

www.fountainofrejuvenation.com Connie Talbot in The Final of Britain's Got Talent, singing Over The Rainbow. In the last of this series, Paul Potts is The Winner. He sang Nessun Dorma.
This is the studio recording of Jason Castro singing the song Judy Garland made famous in the style of Israel Kamakawiwo Ole. A beautiful version, in my opinion, though you can never beat the original.
The best version of this song I've heard by far. What an incredible Musician Performed live at Blues Alley - Eva Cassidy, Somewhere Over the Rainbow

How could we resist filming our next video in the land of Aloha -- beautiful beaches, green mountains, and fresh pineapple?? We went to our Founders and Facebook fans to ask what song they wanted us to play there. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" was the nearly-unanimous response. But you know how we are ... we couldn't "just" do this tune by itself...so in the studio we found a made-in-heaven matchup in the timeless melody from the Shaker Hymn "Simple Gifts" written in the 1800's (also used by Aaron Copland in his Ballet "Appalachian Spring"). We feel it's an especially appropriate mash-up because of our profound love and respect for the Hawaiian culture -- a people who are so good at finding happiness in simplicity. As you probably could hear we borrowed a lot of ideas from Iz's version which has become the stuff of legend. This arrangement is, in part, a tribute to him.
