Screen Guild Theater: Petrified Forest / This Lonely Heart / Cellini

Petrified Forest: Joan Bennett, Tyrone Power, Humphrey Bogart This Lonely Heart: Bette Davis, Arch Oboler Cellini: Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Frank Morgan, Paulette Goddard, Mary Forbes, Margot Stevenson, Roy D'Arcy Paulette Goddard (June 3, 1910 -- April 23, 1990)[1] was an American film actress. A child fashion model and a performer in several Broadway productions as a Ziegfeld Girl, she became a major star of the Paramount Studio in the 1940s. Goddard was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in 1943's So Proudly We Hail! (1943). Upon her return to Hollywood, with her mother, Goddard appeared in small roles in The Girl Habit (1931) and The Mouthpiece (1932). She signed a contract with Hal Roach Studios, and appeared in films such as The Kid from Spain and Laurel and Hardy's Pack Up Your Troubles (both 1932). In 1932, she met Charlie Chaplin. Goddard was considering investing the money from her divorce settlement in a film venture but Chaplin intervened when he discovered the deal was fraudulent, and bought out her contract from Roach. Chaplin began planning a film with Goddard that was released in 1936 as Modern Times, the first film in which she had a credited role.[3] In the interim, Goddard appeared in a few films for Samuel Goldwyn Productions. Along with such actresses as Betty Grable, Lucille Ball, and Ann Sothern, Goddard became a "Goldwyn Girl" in films such as Roman Scandals (1933) and Kid Millions (1934). During this time ...

Screen Guild Theater: Tailored by Toni / Zaza / Never in This World

Tailored by Toni: Carole Lombard, James Stewart, Spring Byington, Edward Everett Horton, George Murphy Zaza: Fanny Brice, Bob Hope, Hanley Stafford, Martha Raye, George Murphy, Matty Malneck's Band, Manny Klein & his Hot Trumpet Never in This World: Leslie Howard, Kay Francis, Mary Nash, Virginia Weidler, Irving Pichel, Morgan Wallace Carole Lombard (October 6, 1908 -- January 16, 1942) was an American actress.[1] She is particularly noted for her roles in the screwball comedies of the 1930s. She is listed as one of the American Film Institute's greatest stars of all time and was the highest-paid star in Hollywood in the late 1930s, earning around US$500000 per year (more than five times the salary of the US President).[2] Lombard's career was cut short when she died at the age of 33 in a plane crash while returning from a World War II Bond tour. Graham Greene praised the "heartbreaking and nostalgic melodies" of her faster-than-thought delivery. "Platinum blonde, with a heart-shaped face, delicate, impish features and a figure made to be swathed in silver lamé, she wriggled expressively through such classics of hysteria as Twentieth Century and My Man Godfrey." Lombard made her film debut at the age of twelve after she was seen playing baseball in the street by director Allan Dwan; he cast her as a tomboy in A Perfect Crime (1921). In the 1920s, she worked in several low-budget productions credited as Jane Peters, and later as Carol Lombard. Her friend Miriam Cooper ...

Free MP3 Download of Screen Guild Theater: Ballerina, Slightly with Accent / The Awful Truth / The Morning Glory high quality MP4

Ballerina, Slightly with Accent: Bette Davis, William Powell The Awful Truth: Carole Lombard, Robert Young, Ralph Bellamy The Morning Glory: Miriam Hopkins, Adolphe Menjou, Ray Milland Ruth Elizabeth "Bette" Davis (April 5, 1908 -- October 6, 1989) was an American actress of film, television and theater. Noted for her willingness to play unsympathetic characters, she was highly regarded for her performances in a range of film genres, from contemporary crime melodramas to historical and period films and occasional comedies, although her greatest successes were her roles in romantic dramas. After appearing in Broadway plays, Davis moved to Hollywood in 1930, but her early films for Universal Studios were unsuccessful. She joined Warner Bros. in 1932 and established her career with several critically acclaimed performances. In 1937, she attempted to free herself from her contract and although she lost a well-publicized legal case, it marked the beginning of the most successful period of her career. Until the late 1940s, she was one of American cinema's most celebrated leading ladies, known for her forceful and intense style. Davis gained a reputation as a perfectionist who could be highly combative, and confrontations with studio executives, film directors and costars were often reported. Her forthright manner, clipped vocal style and ubiquitous cigarette contributed to a public persona which has often been imitated and satirized. Davis was the co-founder of the Hollywood ...
