"Ride the Lightning" is the title track of the 1984 album by heavy metal band Metallica. The original version of the song was found on the Horsemen Of The Apocalypse demo with Dave Mustaine and Ron McGovney. The version found on Ride the Lightning is slightly different due to input from Cliff Burton so he was credited as well as Hetfield, Ulrich and Mustaine. The theme of the song is that of a man who has been sentenced to execution in the electric chair. He opens by acknowledging his guilt ("guilty as 'charged'"), but still questions who made the judge "God to say" that he should die. Later on the man starts to feel the fear while the execution is prepared and asks himself what he is doing in the electric chair. By the end of the song he just wants to get it over with. It is speculated that the song is based on a 1961 episode of The Twilight Zone written by Charles Beaumont entitled "Shadow Play". The episode begins in a courtroom, where Adam Grant (Dennis Weaver) is convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to the electric chair. Shouting, "It's happening all over again!", Grant insists that his trial, conviction, and execution are all part of a recurring nightmare, and that when he dies, the world around him and all its occupants will likewise cease to exist. In a live recording from 1983, James Hetfield states that "This one is dedicated to our friend in Georgia", leading to the possibility that it is about an actual person as opposed to fictional events. In an ...

This is my cover of Metallica's "Ride the Lightning". I made this using garageband and imovie on my computer. First, I imported the actual song into garageband. Next, I recorded three guitar loops over it. (before solo, solo, and after). Then, I recorded the video and synced it to my recordings in Garageband. This is why there may be a slight delay between the audio and video. (What im playing in the video is not what you are hearing, you are hearing what i previously recorded using garageband.) Please do not complain that my guitar is not loud enough, because it is in the mix so loud that you can hardly hear the guitar in the actual song. My guitar just sounds very close to the recording on the record. Thanks. Facebook: www.facebook.com
Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls Album: Ride The Lightning Year: 1984 Lyrics: Make his fight on the hills in the early day Constant chill deep inside Shouting gun, on they run through the endless grey On they fight, for they are right, yes, but who's to say? For a hill, men would kill, why? They do not know Stiffened wounds test their pride Men of five, still alive through the raging glow Gone insane from the pain that they surely know For whom the bell tolls Time marches on For whom the bell tolls Take a look to the sky just before you die It is the last time you will Blackened roar massive roar fills the crumbling sky Shattered goal fills his soul with a ruthless cry Stranger now, are his eyes, to this mystery He hears the silence so loud Crack of dawn, all is gone except the will to be Now they see, what will be, blinded eyes to see For whom the bell tolls Time marches on For whom the bell tolls
