Jaws is a 1975 American horror/thriller film directed by Steven Spielberg and based on Peter Benchley's best-selling novel. The police chief of Amity Island, a fictional summer resort town, tries to protect beachgoers from a giant great white shark by closing the beach, only to be overruled by the town council, which wants the beach to remain open to draw a profit from tourists during the summer season. After several attacks, the police chief enlists the help of a marine biologist and a professional shark hunter. Roy Scheider stars as police chief Martin Brody, Richard Dreyfuss as marine biologist Matt Hooper, Robert Shaw as shark hunter Quint, and Lorraine Gary as Brody's wife Ellen. Jaws is regarded as a watershed film in motion picture history, the father of the summer blockbuster movie and one of the first "high concept" films. Due to the film's success in advance screenings, studio executives decided to distribute it in a much wider release than ever before. The Omen followed suit in the summer of 1976 and then Star Wars one year later in 1977, cementing the notion for movie studios to distribute their big-release action and adventure pictures (commonly referred to as tentpole pictures) during the summer. The film was followed by three sequels, none with the participation of Spielberg or Benchley: Jaws 2 (1978), Jaws 3-D (1983) and Jaws: The Revenge (1987). A video game titled Jaws Unleashed was produced in 2006. Despite the high levels of violence in the film ...

Jaws is an American thriller made in 1975. It was Steven Spielbergs breakthrough film starring Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw. The film was the first of the so called Blockbusters. The movie was an adaption of Peter Benchleys bestselling book of the same name. In the summer of 1975 the coast of a small island called Amity becomes the feeding ground of a great white shark. Police Chief Brody learns of this when the body parts of a teenage girl wash ashore. He orders for the beaches to be closed but is hindered by Mayor Vaughn who is afraid that closing the beaches will reduce the number of tourists that visit in the summer. Desperately Brody contacts a young marine biologist specialised in sharks, Matt Hooper. Brody and Hooper are joined by the hardened shark killer Quint, who holds a grudge against the entire shark species. The three men set out to sea in order to confront and kill the great white. John Williams created one of the most memorable themes ever for this movie. Even the first tones of the music will make ones hart beat faster with fear. It is only natural that Williams was awarded an Oscar for his efforts. Jaws and its music are property of Universal Pictures.
Dun Dun , Dun Dun , Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun DUNN Lol ^ :) My intepretation of Jaws :)
Piano interpretation by Giorgio Rizzarelli - youtube.com . From the soundtrack of the blockbuster movie "Jaws" (1975) directed by Steven Spielberg. PIECE STRUCTURE Among the most famous soundtracks composed by the genius of John Williams, this is the first in time and, for me, the most fun to play, especially for its particular and dramatic featuring of piano: an unforgettable theme consisting in just an alternation of 2 or 3 bass notes in ottava (0:13). Looking closer, however, the theme develops richly on that simple base (with orchestra in the original arrangement), first adding standard chords in unusual menacing way (0:20), then depicting intriguing open-sea waves (0:40ca) and later contrasting with the happy beach people unaware of the danger (1:00). ADAPTION AND SHEET The sheet (since many ask about, I add that it's easy to find online for few dollars) is rather simplified respect the CD version, which is of course a synthesis of the movie soundtrack. This interpretation is a compromise between these various versions, with the addition of a couple of personal elements in the philosophy of the piece. I'm very honoured that this video got compliments from Orchestra Filarmonica di Roma.
