How a 4 Stroke Engine Works
www.epicphysics.com How does a four stroke engine work? A less than 5 minute animation that will show you in detail how a four stroke engine works. In this video the workings of the camshaft, crankshaft and valves are shown. You will also learn the four strokes involved - induction, compression, power and exhaust. How an engine works
The basic principles of how all 4-stroke engines work.
(((Meant to Say 8 Head bolts, not 6))) In this video i am using a 3.5 Horsepower Briggs and Stratton Flathead (process is the same for overhead valve OHV) push mower engine to demonstrate how a 4 stroke (cycle) gasoline engine works. Just remember the 4 strokes, 1 Intake: the engine sucks in a mixture of gas and air through the intake valve from the carburetor do to a vacuum from the piston traveling down the cylinder. 2 Compression: in this stroke the crankshaft is moving the piston up the cylinder compressing the fuel / air mixture. 3. Power: in this stroke the spark plug fires at top dead center (TDC) and causes an explosion forcing the piston back down the cylinder to do high cylinder pressures, turning the crankshaft. 4. Exhaust: in this stroke the explosion just occurred and burnt gases need to escape the cylinder, the piston traveling back up the cylinder forces the burnt exhaust gases out the exhaust valve and into the air. Thats really all there is to a engine, but the all the parts and mechanisms that make it all happen is what makes it complicated. Thank you very much for watching!
www.epicphysics.com Hw a four stroke engine works animation showing the four strokes involved in an internal combustion engine. Also shows the four individual strokes involved - induction, compression, power and exhaust, more easily remembered as suck squeeze bang and blow. The four stroke engine is undoubtedly the one we use most during our everyday lives. It is used in most automobiles as it has high efficiency and high power. The diesel engine is used for more robust tasks such as transporting goods and people as it has more pulling power and higher torque. As the name implies it works on four cycles -- induction, compression, power and exhaust. The induction cycle is where the fuel and air mixture is sucked into the cylinders by the motion of the piston. The mechanics of the engine has opened the inlet port at the top of the cylinder, this allows the fuel air mixture in, the port has been opened by the camshaft. The piston is an airtight seal inside the cylinder, so when it moves downwards it creates a partial vacuum inside the cylinder which sucks the fuel and air mixture in. The fuel/air mixture is usually at a ratio of between 15:1 or 18:1, ie. 15 parts of air to one part of fuel for a typical 4 stroke gasoline engine. During all four cycles there is a complex movement of all of the components of the engine, these are best explained by the video below so i will not get into them here as they are easier to understand when seen. The compression cycle is when the ...

Although sombody may have the time and resources to do it, I cannot see any reason to make a refrigerant compressor into a engine. converting a outboard to a water cooled horizontal engine would be easier.

I 've been wanting to get back into Nitro airplanes and helis since moving back here to the Midwest since they can handle the winds much better than the foamies. That's mainly due to the weight and power. Folks ask me for beginner planes. Well beginner or not, this NitroPlanes CMP PT 19 coupled with the ASP 4 stroke Glow engine is a fabulous combination. The video says it all and would be a good trainer for RC, just like it was for my dad who was an instructor on the PT-19 when in the Army Airforce. He passed last November and this plane was purchased in his honor. On another note, I ordered this PT-19 and engine from NitroPlanes over a month ago. I also ordered another one with retracts that I intended to make electric from AK hobbies. AK is located here in Iowa, and when I emailed them for a stock check, they said they had 16 of them. I ordered and paid for one and expected it within a couple of days since they are local. I am still waiting for over a month now!! On the other hand, NitroPlanes had me one in 6 days, a record for sure, since they are out of stock a lot. So my "tip of the hat" is to Nitroplanes and thanks for the service. This is one really greatly built plane and the engine works perfectly. Thanks for watching, subscribing and all your continued support.
