Shakti (Devanagari: शक्ति) from Sanskrit shak - "to be able," meaning sacred force or empowerment, is the primordial cosmic energy and represents the dynamic forces that are thought to move through the entire universe in Hinduism. Shakti is the concept, or personification, of divine feminine creative power, sometimes referred to as 'The Great Divine Mother' in Hinduism. On the earthly plane, Shakti most actively manifests through female embodiment and creativity/fertility, though it is also present in males in its potential, unmanifest form. Not only is the Shakti responsible for creation, it is also the agent of all change. Shakti is cosmic existence as well as liberation, its most significant form being the Kundalini Shakti, a mysterious psychospiritual force. Shakti exists in a state of svātantrya, dependence on no-one, being interdependent with the entire universe. In Shaktism, Shakti is worshiped as the Supreme Being. However, in other Hindu traditions of Shaivism and Vaishnavism, Shakti embodies the active feminine energy Prakriti of Purusha, who is Vishnu in Vaishnavism or Shiva in Shaivism. Shaktism regards Devi (lit., "the Goddess") as the Supreme Brahman itself, the "one without a second", with all other forms of divinity, female or male, considered to be merely Her diverse manifestations. In the details of its philosophy and practice, Shaktism resembles Saivism. However, Shaktas (Sanskrit: Śakta, शक्त), practitioners of Shaktism, focus most or all ...
Track: Durga Stuti Singer: Jitender Singh Album: Durga Shakti Download links: www.amazon.com www.amazon.co.uk phobos.apple.com www.rhapsody.com For the devotees of mother Durga the most authentic text is the Durga Saptashati. This ancient text is actually a portion of the Markandeya Puran. This Puran contains, among other things, details about the rites and rituals for devotion to goddess Durga. Of the 134 chapters in the Markandeya Puran, 13 chapters, (chapters 78 - 90) are devoted exclusively to goddess Durga. Our sages have opined that those who wish to pray to goddess Durga as their main deity, should follow the directions given in these chapters. These thirteen chapters, along with other material that our sages have added over time, are collectively known as the Durga Saptashati. To be able to recite the whole text would not be possible given the constraint of time in this day and age. Therefore, the sages have further concluded that if one was to recite the three major prayers of the Durga Saptashati - durga kavach, argala stotra and the keelak stotra, one would get the same benefit as if he/she were reciting the complete Durga Saptashati. Accordingly, this album contains these three prayers in conjunction with an invocation prayer (mangalacharan), and a prayer in praise of goddess Durga (durga stuti). The album also contains the bhagavati stotra, a prayer for forgiveness (kshamaa mantra). and finally the famous Durga aarti, om jai ambe gauri. While Goddess Durga is ...

Goddess Durga is the goddess of power. When all the gods failed to kill the mighty demon Mahishasura, they united all their powers and created a goddess and endowed her with all their weapons. With ten weapons in ten hands goddess Durga fought and killed Mahishasura. Durga Stuti is a hymn describing the goddess. The dancer bows to goddess Durga whose matted hair is adorned by the half moon. Her face is as bright as the full moon and she has three beautiful eyes (one on the forehead). The colour of her skin is as bright that of the Atasi flower , she has beautiful teeth and beautiful breasts. She stands in the tribhanga posture and has ten hands. In her ten hands she holds ten weapons. In her right hands she holds the Trishula (spear), the Kharga (salchion), the Chakra (wheel), the Vana (arrow) and the Shakti (club). In her left hands she holds the Khetaka (shield), the Chapa (bow), the Pasha (lasso), the Ankusha and the Ghanta (bell) or the Parashu (axe).
