Amar Prem is a 1972 Bollywood film directed by Shakti Samanta, based on a story by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay, and starring Sharmila Tagore, Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Mehra and Madan Puri. The movie is a remake of a Bengali film 'Nishipadma' (1970) by Arabinda Mukherjee, who wrote screenplay for both the films; it starred Uttam Kumar and Sabitri Chatterjee as leads.
